Guardian Consent for Minors

How guardians provide consent for minors to participate in competitions.

When a minor (under 18) is registered for a competition, their guardian must provide consent before the dancer can participate. The guardian receives a secure consent link via email.

How the Consent Flow Works

  1. A dancer under 18 is registered for an event (by a studio or independently)
  2. The system sends a consent request email to the guardian's registered email address
  3. The guardian clicks the link in the email
  4. The consent page displays:
    • The dancer's name and age
    • The guardian's contact details
    • The event information
    • Terms and conditions for participation
  5. The guardian reviews the terms and clicks "I Give My Consent"
  6. The dancer's registration is marked as consent-granted

What the Consent Covers

By giving consent, the guardian agrees to:

  • Permission for the dancer to register and participate
  • Acknowledgment of physical activity risks
  • Confirmation the dancer is in good health
  • Release of liability for injuries during the event
  • Permission for photography and video recording
  • Providing emergency contact information

Important Notes

  • Consent links expire after 7 days. If expired, a new consent request must be sent
  • Each consent link is unique to a specific dancer and event
  • If a guardian does not wish to give consent, they can simply not complete the consent form
  • If the guardian's email address is incorrect, contact the studio owner or event organiser to update it
