Some events let a dancer perform outside their section. Their scores still belong to their section, and the result row says how the dance counted.
"Performed outside the session"
The dancer was skipped on the day (not ready when their turn came) and performed after their section's awards ceremony had started, or on another day. They are scored and keep their comments, but they are not placed: the placements had already been decided or announced. A dancer who performed before the ceremony started is placed normally and the row says nothing special.
"Pre-arranged out of section"
The dancer arranged with the organiser to perform at a different time, in an Out of section item on the schedule. They are scored like everyone else and are never placed.
"Scratched"
Every judge scratched the dancer: they did not perform. There is no score, no placement, no award and no certificate.
What the dancer receives
- Their scores and the judges' comments.
- A participation certificate, always, even when the event does not issue one to other dancers.
- Where the event uses score medals (Gold, Silver and so on), the level their score earns, shown on that participation certificate.
- No placement, and no medal where the event awards medals by placement.
On the schedule
A pre-arranged dancer shows at the time of their Out of section item, not their section's time. A skipped dancer stays listed under their section with an "Out of section" tag until they have been scored.
