Every routine receives one certificate. A routine that places receives a placement certificate. A routine that does not place receives a participation certificate when you turn participation certificates on, and nothing when they are off. You choose how many places receive a placement certificate (1st to 7th by default) and whether participation certificates are issued on the certificate design page, under Who receives a certificate.
Accessing Certificates
From the Event Dashboard sidebar, click Certificates under Event Tools.
Certificate Types
| Type | Who receives it | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Routines placed 1st to 7th (or fewer, if you set fewer places) | The place, for example "has achieved 1st Place" |
| Participation | Routines that do not place, when participation certificates are on | "has competed in" your event |
With score medals off, placement certificates are named by medal as before: Gold for 1st, Silver for 2nd, Bronze for 3rd, then 4th to 7th Place, or the names you set under Award names.
With score medals on, each certificate also shows the level the score earns, for example "Gold award", in that level's colour. The level is printed on the routine's one certificate: it never adds a certificate of its own. Places are then named 1st Place, 2nd Place and so on, so "Gold" only ever means the score medal. A routine that does not place still shows its score medal on its participation certificate.
Dancers who perform out of section and cannot place always receive a participation certificate, with their score medal where the event uses score medals, even when participation certificates are off. A routine every judge scratched receives no certificate.
Certificates are generated automatically based on scoring results. No manual creation is needed.
Summary
At the top of the page, clickable summary cards count the certificates by place and participation. Click a card to filter by that type. When score medals are on, a separate Medals line counts the score medals, for example "Medals: 7 Gold, 5 Silver, 2 Bronze".

Viewing and Downloading
- Certificate grid: Certificates are displayed as cards in a responsive grid
- View: Click the View button on a certificate card to open a full preview
- Download: From the preview, click Download to generate a PDF of the certificate
Each certificate card shows the routine name, dancers, studio, certificate type badge, score, and rank.
Audit trail: Every certificate download is recorded to the system audit log with the exact score, rank and score medal that appeared on the certificate at download time (action: CERTIFICATE_DOWNLOADED). Admins can review these under Admin → Security → Audit Logs. If a dancer later disputes what was printed, you have a definitive record of what was on their PDF.
