Independent Dancer Portal

How to use the Independent Dancer Portal to compete without a studio affiliation.

The Independent Dancer Portal is for dancers who compete without a studio affiliation. It gives you full control over your own entries, schedule, fees, and results.

Getting Started

After registering as an independent dancer for an event, you can access the portal from:

  • The confirmation page after registration
  • The Portal Selector (if you have multiple roles)
  • Direct event links shared by the organiser

Dashboard

Your dashboard shows:

  • Quick stats: number of entries, draft entries, and total fees
  • Action items: alerts for draft entries, missing music, outstanding fees, and an all-clear when everything is submitted and paid
  • Quick actions: buttons to create an entry, view your schedule, and manage fees
  • Event information: venue name and competition dates
  • Spectator tickets: purchase tickets for family and friends (when enabled by the organiser)
  • A getting-started prompt if you have no entries yet

Managing Your Entries

From the My Entries page:

Creating an Entry:

  1. Click "Create Entry"
  2. Fill in the entry form with your routine details (name, section, style, music, etc.)
  3. Upload your music file (if music uploads are enabled for the event)
  4. Save as draft or submit

Music Uploads:

  • Upload music directly from the entry form or entries page
  • Background uploads track progress with retry and cancel options
  • Your dashboard will alert you if any submitted entries are still missing music

Entry Statuses:

StatusMeaning

WITHDRAWNCancelled

You can edit entries that are in DRAFT status.

Profile Completion

When you first access the portal, you may be prompted to complete your dancer profile:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Government ID type and number
  • Country and region
  • Guardian information (if applicable)

This information is required before you can create entries.

Fee Payment

Your fees include:

  • Registration fee (if applicable)
  • Entry fees per routine
  • Any processing fees

View your total, amount paid, and balance due on the Fees page. Payment methods and instructions are provided by the event organiser. See the "How to Pay" section on your Fees page for details.

Joining a Studio

If you signed up as an independent dancer but you dance with a studio, you can move across yourself. Nothing is deleted: your profile, your independent entries and your results all stay where they are.

  1. Sign in and open your Independent Dancer Portal dashboard.
  2. Find the studio card under Find Events.
  3. If it says "You are a dancer at" your studio's name, your studio has already added you. Click Open my Dancer Portal. No code is needed.
  4. If it says "Dance with a studio?", click Join a studio, type the studio code your studio gave you, click Validate, then Join studio.
  5. You land in the Dancer Portal. Events your studio entered you in are listed under My Studio Events.

Your studio manages the entries and fees it makes for you. You keep your Independent Dancer Portal too: switch between the two from the menu under your name, or from the portal list when you sign in.

No studio code? Ask your studio owner. They find it in their studio settings.
